Strategic advisory for founders, growing companies, fund managers, and investors.
LAURENCE brings together three perspectives: the operator, the advisor, and the investor. Each informs how we approach growth, partnerships, and capital.
We've been in the founder's seat. Building teams, forming partnerships, opening new channels, raising capital, and making the difficult decisions that come with growing a business.
We've advised sophisticated investors and capital allocators, understanding how they evaluate opportunities, build relationships, and make decisions.
We've worked inside venture capital, connecting businesses with investment capital and understanding what each side needs.
Each practice stands on its own. Most clients draw on more than one.
LAURENCE works best where experience, judgment, and relationships can make a tangible difference.
You're entering a new market, building partnerships, or preparing to raise, and you want someone who has done it.
You're building an enduring firm, and you want LP strategy from someone who has sat on both sides of the table: raising capital and advising the allocators who invest it.
You want an operator's read on a company, a category, or a portfolio company's next move.
Most relationships begin with a focused challenge, and develop into ongoing partnerships.
Focused engagements with clear objectives and tangible deliverables.
An experienced partner working alongside founders, leadership teams, GPs, and investors.
The partnerships a company builds shape how investors see it. The capital it raises shapes what it can build next. The same is true for funds: the portfolio a manager builds shapes the LPs it attracts.
We help clients make these decisions together.
Matthew has spent his career at the intersection of operating companies, strategic partnerships, and private capital.
A serial entrepreneur, he co-founded Backbone PLM, a product-development platform serving retail and consumer brands, and led the company as CEO and later Executive Chairman through its acquisition by Bamboo Rose. He also co-founded Sweater Ventures, an investment platform designed to give individual investors access to emerging private companies.
At J.P. Morgan, Matthew served as a Vice President in the Innovation Economy group, advising family offices, ultra-high-net-worth clients, funds of funds, and institutional investors on investment management across venture, private markets, and public equities. Most recently, he was a Partner at Massive VC, where he focused on capital formation and LP relationships for the firm's second fund, alongside sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities.
He founded LAURENCE in 2026 to bring all three seats to one table.
